      Description:

      he DMG Mosquito Trap is an innovative designed device that uses the TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) and near ultraviolet (UV) rays from the UV lamps or Sun, to create an unlimited amount of CO2 (the same gas that humans exhale and it is also the number one thing that mosquitoes seek when finding a host) through it photocatalytic reaction to attract, trap and kill the mosquitoes. At the same time, it also purifies and sterilizes the surrounding air.

       How does it work?

       

      Photocatalytic is a decomposition reaction formed when Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), as a catalyst, absorbs ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight or illuminated light source (ultraviolet lamps). TiO2 can be used semi-permanently because, as a catalyst, it is not consumed in the process and therefore does not change. So, the TiO2 coating on the DMG Mosquito Trap does not need to be replaced throughout the lifetime of the trap.

      Mosquitoes, even in the dark, can easily locate where a person is by sensing the Cardon Dioxide(CO2) and the temperature that he/she releases. The mosquitoes also react sensitively to ultraviolet (UV) light.

      Using these properties of the mosquitoes,DMG Mosquito Trap can lure and capture the mosquitoes, both in bright indoors and in dark outdoors, by using a tripartite system: HEAT and UV LIGHT, produced from the fluorescent lamps installed inside, and CO2, produced when near UV rays are radiated onto the Titanium Dioxide (TiO2).

      Mosquitoes enter the trap through the capture windows on the upper portion, and then strong suction from the fan will suck them into the capture net on the lower compartment. Once they are in the capture net, they cannot escape and they will slowly die of dehydration.

      1) Where can I place the trap?
      You can place it indoor or outdoor.

      2) Can I place the trap under the rain?
      Is it not recommended to do so, because exposure to rain for a long period of time may allow the rain water to drip inside and damage the ballast or motor.

      3) Where should I place the trap?
      You should place it in areas where mosquitoes like to 'hang around' - near the plant, shoe rack, under the table - basically a badly lit area.

      4) Can I place the trap beside me to catch the mosquitoes, while I am watching TV?
      No. Humans are better attractant than the trap. The trap will work best without the humans around. If you want peace while watching TV, you should get a mosquito 'repelling' gadget instead of a mosquito 'attracting' gadget.

      5) Can I place the trap in my bedroom with my toddler around?
      Yes. The amount of CO2 released from the trap is less than you and your partner exhale. Furthermore, it is best to leave the trap 'on' for a few hours in the 'closed' bedroom before going to bed, as this will allows the trap to capture the mosquitoes first.

      6) How come there are still mosquitoes around, even though the trap has caught a lot of them?
      You cannot basically eliminate the mosquitoes population with the trap. In an 'open' environment (with windows or doors opened), mosquitoes can continuously fly in from the outside. Therefore, placing a trap outside each entry point will reduce the number of mosquitoes coming in tremendously.

      7) How long should I leave the trap 'on'?
      To be highly effective, leave the trap 'on' for 24 hours (it only uses 26 watt). Operating the trap for 1-2 hours is ineffective as the trap needs time to generate CO2 from the photocatalytic reaction of TiO2. The trap does not releases large amount of CO2, just like those from a gas cyclinder.

      8) Will the 'live' mosquitoes fly out when I 'off' the trap?
      No. There is a small hole at the end of the funnel in the netting tray, and it is very difficult for the mosquitoes to fly out from there.

      9) How can I kill the 'live' mosquitoes after I switch 'off' the trap?
      Depending on each individual mosquito, it may requires a few hours to a day to dehydrate itself and dies.

      10) How do I clean the trap?
      Just use the brush provided to sweep away any dust or 'dead' insects. You may even unscrew the 4 tiny screws to clean the fan and UV lamps, but please do not use any wet / damp cloth to wipe the 'white-dot' coating on the white funnel and metal plate. The coating is actually TiO2. Removing it will cause the trap to be ineffective.

      11) How long can the UV lamps last before they need replacement?
      Based on the factory specification, they can last for 6,000 hours. If you switch 'on' the trap for 24 hours a day, you only need to replace the UV lamps after 8 months.
